Accessibility
Last updated 3 October 2026
Post-secondary institutions are held to accessibility standards, and the systems built for them should meet the same bar. That applies to this site as much as to the applications described on it.
Target
This site aims to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA. It has not yet been through an independent audit, so this is a statement of intent and of the checks that have been done, not a claim of certified conformance.
What has been done
- Every text and background pairing on the site has been measured. The lowest is 5.26:1 and body text on the page background measures 10.97:1, against a level AA requirement of 4.5:1 for normal text.
- Interactive elements have a visible focus outline of 3px with a 3px offset, so keyboard navigation is always traceable.
- A skip link is the first thing a keyboard or screen reader user reaches, so the navigation can be jumped over.
- The page is built from semantic HTML, with one h1 per page and headings in order, so screen readers and the browser reading modes both work.
- Body text is set at 18px or larger, with a line height of 1.72, and lines are capped at roughly 66 characters. Smaller text is used only for labels, captions and the footer.
- There is one animation, a short introduction of the home page hero when the page loads. It runs once, it does not loop, and it is switched off entirely, along with smooth scrolling, for anyone whose system requests reduced motion. There is no autoplay and no carousel.
- Text reflows down to a 320px viewport and remains readable at 200% zoom.
- No information is conveyed by colour alone. Where colour marks a problem or a solution, that is also stated in words.
- The site works without JavaScript. The only script on the page is analytics.
Known limitations
The contact button opens your email client through a mailto link. If you have no mail client configured, that button may do nothing, or may prompt you to set one up. The address is written out in the footer so you can copy it instead.
On narrow screens the main navigation links are hidden and only the contact button remains. The same destinations are reachable by scrolling the page.
No usability testing with assistive technology users has been carried out yet.
